In the first Beatitude Jesus is clear: staying close to our need for God and others allows us to enjoy belonging in His kingdom. Powerless is how we come to God, and from beginning to end we are helpless apart from Him. Ironically, He is, in a way, powerless when it comes to us. As much as He wants us, He waits for us to want Him. We bring our brokenness to the cross where Jesus hung, broken and bruised. Through brokenness we encounter grace.

As this occurs, our lives move forward with purpose and power.
